The OPL (photo Sebastian Hanel) performs a traditional Strauss programme for its new year’s concert.
The famous new year’s concert from Vienna is the inspiration for the annual start to the year by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. A programme featuring works by Josef and both father and son Johan Strauss, including the gallop from “William Tell” (the theme to “The Lone Ranger” for all you philistines outs there) and “The Blue Danube” (the music from “2001: A Space Odyssey" for all you intellectuals out there).
But the programme also includes a piece by Richard Strauss, namely his “Burleske for Piano and Orchestra”.
Lawrence Foster conducts and Rudolf Buchbinder is the pianist.
