Highly acclaimed pianist Mitsuko Uchida is recognised as one of the most skilled interpreters of Schubert on the concert circuit.
Mitsuko Uchida comes to the Philharmonie to tackles three Schubert sonatas, including the so-called Fantasie, described as “the most perfect in form and conception” of all his sonatas. The Guardian described Uchida’s playing as “crystalline purity” when she took on the “huge physical” and “forbidding intellectual” challenge of performing all three of Schubert’s final sonatas in 2012. Here she faces a less daunting programme, but will undoubtedly perform to her usual breath-taking standard.
Uchida performs more Schubert at the Phil in January.
