Classical collective the United Instruments of Lucilin will present two concerts at Casino Luxembourg, inspired by Casino's current exhibition: "Night Shift" by FORT collective.
The programme highlights minimal music with Kate Moore's piece for electric quartet “Fatal Strangers”, commissioned by Lucilin in 2011.
This will be followed by two pieces by American composer Philip Glass: his splendid “String Quartet n°5” and the magnetic “Music in Similar Motion”.
This ensemble was founded in 1999 and was the first chamber group to play solely works composed in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
Underpinned by its string quartet, flute, clarinet, saxophone, piano and percussion, it occasionally welcomes new instruments to the fold depending on the project.
These two performances are aimed at offering visitors to the Casino another way to listen to contemporary music within an artistic setting.
The second performance will take place at 11am on 19 March. Entry costs €5.
