Fans of graphic novels and comic books should not miss the international comic book festival which sees Contern overrun by comic book characters, creators and fans for two days.
This year puts American comic books in focus, welcoming a host of well-known artists from the genre. Among them will be British artist Mike Perkins (of “Iron Fist” and “Captain America” fame), who is this year’s honorary president, Charlie Adlard (“The Walking Dead”), Mike Collins (“Dr Who”) and Barry Kitson (“JLA Year One”).
They will share the space with a host of European comic book creators like Batem (“Marsupilami”), Turf (“Le voyage improbable”) and Pica (“Les Profs”) as well as Luxembourg creators Lucien Czuga (Super Jhemp), Marc Angel, Pascale Velleine, John Rech and Andy Genen.
In addition to scores of stands selling new and second-hand comic books and merchandise, a big draw is the costume parade as people dress as comic book characters.
From storm troopers to manga creations, don’t be surprised if you see them all in the streets of Contern over the two days of the festival.
Contern recently announced that it will open Luxembourg’s first comic book archive, for which it will shortly appoint a full-time manager. More information to follow on Delano after the festival.
