It’s time to get your geek on as Luxembourg hots up for its annual science fiction, fantasy and horror fan convention, LuxCon.
Each year, thousands of people from Luxembourg and the greater region gather in Luxembourg to celebrate the characters, authors and illustrators who make the genre so special.
This year’s programme features talks from a number of international authors, including Christopher Priest and Peadar O’Guilin and local children’s author Matthew Olson-Roy.
Visitors can play retro and contemporary video games in the videogaming area, or interactive table top games in the gaming area. A curious novelty at this year’s event will be the outdoor escape adventure, in which participants must solve puzzles and riddles to win.
Geek speed dating
Added to that, geek speed dating returns as do the various fanzones where people can meet to share their passion about Manga, Marvel or Star Wars, for example. For those who always wanted to train as a Jedi, there will be a workshop teaching Lightsaber basics (for real) and the festival is the only place in Luxembourg where you can learn Klingon. Yep, you read that right!
If bringing littlies, why not take them to one of the many workshops being organised, such as interacting with robots, making a Harry Potter wand or Irish legends for kids. Not forgetting the all-important Cosplay, where people dress as their favourite comic book/video game characters. This is just a taster of the full programme which can be viewed on the LuxCon website.
