Winner of the best jazz vocal album Grammy for her last two recordings, acclaimed singer Cécile McLorin Salvant returns to Luxembourg.
She is joined by the hugely talented pianist Aaron Diehl as well as Paul Sikivie on double bass and Kyle Poole on drums. Wynton Marsalis has said of her “You get a singer like this once in a generation or two.”
McLorin Salvant has performed in Luxembourg before, at the Wiltz Festival and in the chamber music hall at the Phil. But her reputation is now such that she can command the grand auditorium at the Philharmonie. Latest album, “Dreams and Daggers” was hailed as “the best jazz vocal album in a decade, maybe in longer than that” by Stereophile reviewer Fred Kaplan. The collection of “carefully curated” standards, including Sidney Clare’s ‘You’re My Thrill’, and original compositions “all touch upon the themes of romance and heartbreak”, says AllMusic reviewer Matt Collar.
