Neil Dickson stars in “The Standard Bearer”, a 50-minute monologue about a Shakespearean actor on tour in West Africa.
Directed by Julian Sands, “The Standard Bearer” tells the story of an actor in the 1980s sent on a tour of various communities to bring Shakespeare to the masses.
When his on-stage partner fails to show up, the actor slips into a Shakespearean confession of his own. Dickson played Harold Ford in the television series “Mad Men”.
His film credits include “Alice in Wonderland”, “Body of Lies”, “Inland Empire”, “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” and the Bafta award-winning film “Chasing Chekhov”. “The Standard Bearer” will be preceded by a solo from Julian Sands of “Keats, Shelley, Ghosts and Lovers”.
The show is performed at the Théâtre National de Luxembourg from 4 to 5 January at 8pm.
