Celebrate the humble tatty and pick your own at Binsfeld’s sixteenth gromperefest (potato festival).
Entrance and parking are free of charge, visitors just pay for the potatoes they pick. The festival celebrates a potato farming tradition in the Oesling region, where different varieties are grown.
Experts from List in Belval and the E'slecker Setzgrompergenossenschaft will be on hand to answer any potato-related queries visitors may have. Kids can test their potato-picking skills during the picking challenge after which celebrities will take their turn digging up spuds at 3pm.
Then, don’t miss the crowning of the potato king and queen. Throughout the day don’t forget to check out the old tractor exhibition or watch the variety of demonstrations of farming from yesteryear.
Hot food and drinks will be available for purchase with, of course, potato-based products like a potato sausage “patattinger”.
