“Friday Island”, the multidisciplinary series of events (headed up by actor Katharina Bintz and choreographer Gianfranco Celestino), has entered its second phase and is looking for submissions for its PLAY(ING) event at Gudde Wëllen in October.
Friday Island was launched in in 2015 at the Bamhaus on a former industrial site in Dommeldange as an oasis that offered artists a chance to experiment free of the burden of expectation, and as a platform for exchange between artists and audience.
The concept has now been developed and will produce five bi-monthly events, each in a different location.
The Friday Island team is asking for artist submissions in any medium--from performing arts and fine arts, to visual arts and literature--on the theme of PLAY(ING). “The theme should be approached in a critical way in relation to social/political/philosophical perspectives. The artistic contributions can take any form of expression as long as they question the theme and suggest a non-conform point of view.”
Artists will receive a remuneration (a travel refund to Luxembourg is also available upon request) and accommodations for three nights.
More information ca be obtained from Katharina Bintz and Gianfranco Celestino via e-mail: [email protected] or from the Friday Island Facebook page. Deadline for applications is 20 August.
