Shoppers and volunteers helped raise a colossal €600,000 over the two-day event hosted at Luxexpo in December 2018. The funds will be shared among 70 charities, of which four Luxembourg charities will receive €30,000: De Leederwon asbl, Chaîne de l’Espoir Luxembourg, Stëmm vun der Stross and Associación Manos Abiertas.

The principal charity chosen by the committee is Friends of Portee, Sierra Leone, a Swedish not-for-profit which receives €25,000 to finance construction of a pre-school and primary school building in Sierra Leone.

A further €84,000 was awarded to ten Luxembourg organisations with projects in Cape Verde, India, Niger and Senegal, among others.

The remaining €461,000 was distributed among international organisations with an emphasis on projects in developing countries.

The bazaar, which last year had 71 stands from countries around the world, will host its fifty-ninth edition from 30 November to 1 December 2019 at Luxexpo.
