The fourteen adults and twelve children, of which 24 were Syrian passport holders and two stateless, were selected following interviews with displaced people conducted by a Luxembourg delegation in Lebanon in April 2017.

The group, which was awarded automatic refugee status upon arrival, was welcomed at Luxembourg airport by a delegation comprised of the different bodies responsible for housing and integrating the new residents into Luxembourg society.

Further relocations are expected in the coming months under the 2016 agreement between the EU and Turkey.
