Travel: Luxembourg citizens have one of the most practical passports in the world, according to an advisory firm.
The Grand Duchy has tied as the 4th most “powerful” passport in a financial advisory firm’s study.
Arton Capital’s “Passport Index” measures how many countries passport holders can enter without obtaining a visa in advance. “The higher the Visa Free Score, the better the Passport Power Rank.”
Luxembourg passport holders can enter 143 territories without administrative hassles, along with citizens of fellow 4th placed countries Denmark, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands and Singapore.
The top three places were also ties. In the first place were the UK and US (147 territories); in second place were France, Germany and South Korea (145 territories), and in third place were Italy and Sweden (144).
Tied in 80th place, the lowest ranking in the survey, were holders of Myanmar (Burma), Palestinian Territories, Sao Tome and Principe, Solomon Islands and South Sudan passports. They could only enter 28 territories visa-free, according to Arton Capital, which said on its website that it specialises “in investor programs for residence and citizenship”.
The firm added an entertaining feature to the index website: images of passport covers in the survey can be sorted by rank, alphabetically by country, or by colour.
