“Tel Aviv on Fire”, by Sameh Zoabi made in co-production with Samsa Film, has been selected for the discovery category of the Toronto International Film Festival. It is one of four films representing Luxembourg at the festival from 6 to 16 September.

“Black 47”, by Lance Daly (Samsa Film) and “Sibel” by Guillaume Giovanetti/Cagla Zencirci (Bidibul Productions) were selected for the contemporary world cinema category while Markus Schleinzer’s “Angelo”, (Amour Fou Luxembourg) will feature in the platform section.

Before then, at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, which kicked off on Tuesday, Bidibul Productions’ “Troisièmes Noces” will vie for recognition. From 29 August to 8 September, judges at the Venice Film Festival will give their view on “Tel Aviv on Fire”, competing in the Orizzionti category. And “Angelo” will also get a second shot at stardom, running for the Coquille d’Or prize at the San Sebastian Festival from 21 to 29 September.

This year has proved fruitful summer for Bidibul Productions, whose feature “Sibel” picked up three prizes at the Locarno International Film Festival at the beginning of August.
