Jean Schoos was re-elected as party chairman of the ADR on 19 March 2017 (paperJam: archives)

As the only candidate, he gathered 91 votes, with only 4 against and 1 abstention.

The ADR has not yet published its local election candidates (elections are in October this year).

The next parliamentary elections will take place in late 2018, and the parties are already gearing up to get organised for the campaigns.

Schoos, a veterinarian, is now on his third mandate, and he intends to position the ADR as the only real alternative to the three parties (DP, LSAP, Greens) currently in government. The ADR hopes to get enough votes to enter a coalition with the centre right CSV, which currently has the most seats in parliament.

The ADR focuses on issues such as immigration, identity and the promotion of Luxembourgish as the country’s “first” language, traditional family values, prudent public budgets and fairness in pensions.
