During a financial mission to Silicon Valley, Luxembourg finance minister Pierre Gramegna (DP) tweeted on Wednesdsay that he met with Greg Greeley, the director of Airbnb, who previously spent a decade establishing Amazon’s presence in Europe.

Paperjam revealed that Airbnb Payments Luxembourg SA was created on 12 December 2018, and will be located at 4 rue Henri Schnadt, in the Cloche D’Or district in the south of the capital.

According to Luxembourg’s commercial register, the company was registered on 4 January and focuses on the issue, acquisition, distribution and exchange of electronic money, and the provision of payment services. In spring 2019, Airbnb began recruiting for an operations manager and this week two new positions opened, for managing director and chief compliance officer.

While Airbnb had some 300 hosts in Luxembourg, this new entity will further strengthen its presence in Luxembourg.
