Alert phase for water restrictions is over
Because of little rain last winter and high water consumption during the last months, an alert phase was declared in May to avoid drinking water shortages.
Since the start of the summer holidays, water consumption levels have decreased, however. Furthermore, the weather forecast does not foresee another heatwave in the grand duchy.
The ministry for sustainable development and infrastructures has therefore lifted the alert phase. In a press statement on 3 August, it stated that the collective efforts of both local authorities and residents to save water meant that an orange alert could be avoided.
