Have a blast and don’t plan anything

The eve before Luxembourg national day is one big street party that spreads all over Luxembourg city. There will be live music stages, DJs and outdoor bars at every corner.

It might sound tempting to plan visiting as many different spots as possible – but this is sure to end up in frustration, as the crowds make it virtually impossible to get from A to B in a given timeframe. My advice: Just go with the flow!

Get a spot for the fireworks on time

Ok, don’t plan anything, but if you want to see the fireworks at 11pm, make sure you get a spot in time. This year, the fireworks will be held at the newly renovated Pont Adolphe, allowing for stunning views from many spots.

A favourite is near the Gëlle Fra (Place de la Constitution), which is sure to be super crowded. If you want a less obvious spot, head down to the Petrusse valley near the skatepark and look up into the sky. It will be a completely different experience than on the top level.

Host a patriotic national day brunch

The 23 June is marked by official celebrations including a military parade, but for those who enjoyed the street parties of the previous night, it’s often a bit too much to bear. So, why not host a tongue-in-cheek ‘patriotic brunch’ instead.

You can make my Mettwurscht Muffins and patriotic vacherin ice cream cake in red white and blue.

Or, if the hangover is just too much to bear, my Luxembourg-shaped sweet and savoury biscuits will do the job just fine.
