Rik Vandenberghe, CEO of Besix and president of the BCBL, opened the event by saying:
“In a world facing major human, economic, environmental and technological changes, smart cities are not a topic for the future anymore, it is a reality today…”
Presentations were made by experts from Belgium and Luxembourg, including Tatiana Fabeck, founder of the Luxembourg architects of the same name, who talked about the “Vivre sans voiture” (living without cars) project that her office is currently working on. This is a project that aims to design housing without parking spaces on Limpertsberg.
The project, which covers an area of 69.7a, with a projected cost of €12m (before VAT), aims to construct a housing pavilion with accommodation in various styles, dedicated to residents without cars. The project also seeks to construct buildings of energy class A only.
