Submit your questions in advance or head on over to this elections information event in Luxembourg City

On 12 September, residents of the capital are invited to attend this informational event at the Cercle Cité from 6:30pm. The discussion will be in French with simultaneous English translation.

The aim is to inform Luxembourg City's international residents, who are eligible and registered to vote in the communal elections on 8 October, about the political candidates standing.

Invited are the four contestants running for the mayor position of the capital: Marc Angel (LSAP), Lydie Polfer (DP), Sam Tanson (Déi Gréng), and Serge Wilmes (CSV). François Aulner, a journalist for Paperjam, will host the event and discuss the candidates’ manifestoes.

Foreign residents are allowed to vote in local elections, provided they have been resident in the country for five years or more, are aged 18 or over and register at their local council before the deadline. Across the 105 communes in Luxembourg, almost 35,000 foreign residents have registered to vote in the forthcoming elections, making up 1.2% of the electorate this year.

Local elections take place every six years and help to designate a new local council. The last elections took place October 9, 2011.

You can submit your questions for the candidates before the event on www.sli.do (enter #PJCELECTIONS2017 in the “enter event code” box). Tickets can be purchased on the website.

This event is hosted at Cercle Cité, 2 rue Genistre, L-1623 Luxembourg-Centre.
