Blood supply is currently reduced due to the holidays and school holidays, according to the humanitarian organisation. It has also urged the public to consider donating before this weekend if possible.

Donors should be in good health without any contraindication for donating blood and be between the ages of 18 and 60. Donations cannot be accepted for anyone who lived in the UK between 1980-1996 for more than 12 months or who received a transfusion or had surgery there from 1980 on, following international criteria.

The blood transfusion centre is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 8am-4pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 8am-6pm. An ID card or social insurance card is required, and the appointment generally lasts around 1.5 hours. Contact the Luxembourg Red Cross on 27 55 40 00, email [email protected], or go straight to the registration form.
