Ansay International already sold the Luxembourg beer brand in America’s Midwest region, which includes Chicago.

The new agreement was signed on 21 November and announced on 18 December. Brasserie Nationale, based in Bascharage, said in a press release that: “The objectives are ambitious: triple sales to reach 5,000hl by 2020.”

According to a post on its Facebook page:

“Ansay International is a family-owned company established in 2014 in Port Washington, [Wisconsin]. Led by Operations Manager Kate Ansay, AI imports, markets, and distributes premium Bofferding beer, Domaines Vinsmoselle wine, Ramborn cider, and Moutarde de Luxembourg mustard in the United States.”

A large number of Luxembourgers emigrated to the US state of Wisconsin in the 19th century. In addition to helping to manage the import business, Mike Ansay is an insurance and banking executive, and is Luxembourg’s honorary consul for Wisconsin.

Brasserie Nationale, which is also family-owned, said it had turnover of more than €74.5m last year and employed 262 people.
