The new a-z.lu interface is now more intuitive in the way it is used to search for books within the bibnet.lu network, kept at 81 libraries around Luxembourg.

“The main goal is to give everyone the opportunity to learn, to discover the wealth of physical or digital collections and to access the documents they need without having to be initiated to documentary research,” the government said in a press release published on Monday.

The site offers access to more than 1.2 billion bibliographic references. Users can find the books they need by inserting key words and using the dynamic filters of the tool. Books can then be reserved or, in some cases, accessed in digital format.

Among other things, the network lists books, magazines, language tools, manuscripts, artists’ books and memories, university course bibliographies and multimedia resources such as CDs, DVDs and audiobooks.

A number of resources have been digitalised and these include magazines and newspaper, posters and old books from the Luxembourg collection, Latin manuscripts and digital books offered by ebooks.lu, the free loan service for French, German and English titles.
