Launched under the banner of the country’s nation branding “Luxembourg, Let’s make it happen”, the idea is to bring together residents, old and new, between 23 June and 9 July and visit real Luxembourg.

Anyone wishing to act as a guide need not be a history, art or archaeology buff—what counts is their knowledge of the country and desire to share hidden gems.

“Guides are independent from the tourism offices are under no circumstances to be viewed as competition. They play a double role in welcoming people with passion on a voluntary basis during their free time, by accompanying and guiding visitors around places which are close to their hearts,” the campaign’s website explained.

A number of volunteer guides have already signed up to the initiative, with available tours ranging from a picnic or cycle tour along the Moselle valley to a historic tour of Dudelange and its inhabitants.

Candidates can register their tour proposals and dates on line here.
