A Cargolux spokesperson said that after arriving at Prestwick airport in Glasgow, “a fuel spill was identified from cargo loaded on the main deck.”

Technicians and a specialist firm were sent to the site to inspect the aircraft and clean the affected areas. The plane was then ferried back to Luxembourg last week.

“It is not yet known when the aircraft will return to service. Cargolux is cooperating with all relevant authorities to investigate the incident,” the spokesperson said.

The incident was reported by a plane enthusiast on the forum of airliners.net, who reported that around 300 litres of fuel leaked over the main cargo deck of the aircraft.
