China floats new foreign investment rules

The Chinese government has proposed loosening the rules on foreign investments in listed firms, reported Reuters and the South China Morning Post. A draft regulation would reduce both the lock-up period and the amount of assets required to be held for “strategic” investors. Such investments, however, would face a national security review, noted the Financial Times and Nikkei Asian Review.

5G mobile network deal in US

Nokia won a $3.5bn contract from T-Mobile to build the first nationwide 5G mobile network in the US, reported Bloomberg, Reuters and the Verge. The deal could mark a turnaround for the struggling Finnish telecom equipment provider.

Missing Malaysian flight was “deliberately” diverted
