Luxlait director Claude Steinmetz, pictured, is to quit his post on 30 April 2018 David Laurent/Archives

On Saturday 24 March 2018 Steinmetz’s candidacy for the October 2018 elections was confirmed when he appeared on the CSV (Christian Social People’s Party) list for the central constituency, dispelling rumours that had been making the rounds since January 2018.

As a candidate for the centre, he joins Claude Wiseler and the former MEP Viviane Reding.
