The survey score for “general economic situation in Luxembourg” held steady at 8 points in December 2018. The figure was 8 points in November, but was 4 points in October and September, and 2 points in August. However, it was 10 in February and 15 in January 2018.

That’s according to the monthly consumer confidence survey released by the Luxembourg Central Bank (BCL) on 8 January. The survey measures households’ “expectations over the next 12 months” on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Households also thought their own capacity to save in the future improved slightly: the score increased from 47 to 49 points between November and December 2018. It was 58 in October.

The overall consumer confidence indicator rose from 16 to 17 points. The indicator had hit 18 points in October; it was 20 points in January 2018.
