- The fund and corporate services provider Alter Domus will open its second office in Ireland. The company said the decision to launch an office in Cork has “nothing to do with Brexit”. It will hire 60 staff for the new branch; the 16 year old firm currently has around 1,000 employees in 31 locations.
- Banque internationale à Luxembourg posted a rise in net operating income of 3%: €124m in 2016, compared to €120m the previous year. Net operating profit after tax was €110m for the 2016 financial year.
- The European Investment Bank has lent Belgium’s national railway €600m to finance a major boost in rolling stock. SNCB has already ordered 445 new double-decker carriages at a total cost of €1.3bn. This will add 190,000 new seats to the Belgian network by 2030.
- Dan Kersch, the LSAP civil service and administrative reform minister, said the public consultation website www.vosidees.lu has yielded around 200 suggestions for simplifying bureaucratic procedures. 88 such projects--touching on 20 government departments--have been completed, are in the process of being completed, or are being studied, he reported.
- The former CEO of Cargolux, Dirk Reich, has been nominated for a post on the board of directors at the Swiss logistics firm Panalpina. Reich was head of the Luxembourg-based all freight airline, one of the world’s largest, from March 2014 to June 2016, and currently runs a China-focused advisory firm. Panalpina’s shareholders meeting is set for 3 May.
