Luxembourg police have issued a warning about phone calls from exotic locationsPicture credit: Police Grand-Ducale

On Thursday 2 November, many people in Luxembourg received phone calls from exotic locations, including Guinea, Morocco, Samoa, Seychelles, Tonga and Vanuatu.

The police force stated on Facebook that it is questionable whether the phone calls were really made from those countries. They cautioned that if one picks up, high costs may ensue. People should not call the number back.

Separately, Tango has stated that its network was the target of a phishing attack, according to L’Essentiel. However, their IT team has now blocked all the suspect numbers. Phishing attacks attempt to gather personal information by posing as a trusted institution.
