The DP joins the club of election poster controversy. It has used the same slogan “with heart and soul” as the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), although the DP stated that it has no links with the far right party.

The DP have also found controversy for their election posters, but for different reasons
Norbert Hofer of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) used the slogan “with heart and soul” (Mit Herz und Seele) in the December 2016 presidential elections. The DP has the same slogan (Mat Häerz a Séil) for the upcoming local elections on 8 October.
Contacted by Le Quotidien, the DP secretary general Marc Ruppert denied any links to the Austrian far right party. He said the slogan had been decided together with the party membership. He told the Tageblatt that they had not checked whether the slogan had been used previously in other countries. He added that:
“We have nothing in common with that party in terms of policies, and our voters know this.”
Ruppert stated that they would not take the posters down.
