The summit’s central theme was “Investing in youth for a sustainable future”. These meetings, and the UN’s sustainable development goals, are important so that young people in Africa will know that they have a bright future in their own countries, Bettel wrote on his Facebook page.

Bettel attended the summit in Abidjan after visiting EU military trainers in Mali.
