The information was disclosed on 16 January by the Green infrastructure minister François Bausch, in a response to a parliamentary question from the LSAP MP Claudia Dall’Agnol.

The station will be reserved for clients of the Eurohub Sud intermodal terminal and logistics centre, Bausch stated. That will prevent trucks simply transiting on the nearby A3 motorway from exiting and clogging up nearby roads.

Construction permits for the service station, and a nearby secure parking facility, were filed at Bettembourg town hall in September 2017, Bausch reported. Pending approval, construction work could begin later this year.

The new station will be financed by a private operator; however, the government has not yet signed a contract with any company.
