MPs voted “unanimously” to pass bill 7399 on 27 March, according to parliament’s website.
The law creates a new public holiday, Europe Day, on 9 May. It also increases minimum paid leave from 25 days to 26 days, although there is no increase for workers who already have 26 or more days of holiday.
The legislation takes effect retroactively from 1 January 2019.
The bill’s rapporteur was the LSAP MP Georges Engel.
