Two goals from Belarusian midfielder Stanislav Dragun either side of half-time seriously dented Luxembourg’s ambition of qualifying for Euro 2020. Luc Holtz’s team, who were missing Vincent Thill and Mario Mutsch through injury, struggled in the first half and despite playing better in the second 45 minutes rarely threatened the visitors’ goal. Only a shot from Joachim in the 69th minute that hit the cross bar saw the home side get close to a goal.

Luxembourg had topped their Nations League group at one stage. But consecutive defeats to Belarus (a team they have beaten in World Cup qualifying in August 2017) means they must now hope tiny San Marino can pull of a miracle and defeat Belarus on Sunday.
