21-year old Danel Sinani scores F91’s second goalYouTube screengrab

F91 Dudelange beat FC Cluj of Romania 2-0 at the Stade Josy Barthel on Thursday evening. Goals from two rising stars of the Luxembourg national team, 25-year old David Turpel and 21-year old Danel Sinani, sealed the victory. But the Dudelange club must travel to Romania’s for next Thursday’s away leg without veteran goalkeeper Jonathan Joubert, who broke his tibia in a nasty collision with Cluj right back Cristian Manea in the 47th minute of the match.

Dudelange fully deserved their win after starting the match brightly and dominating the first 20 minutes. The goal from Turpel was an opportunistic strike from six yards, tucking in a rebound after Cluj keeper (former Watford player) Giedrius Arlauskis made a smart save to keep out a shot by Clément Couturier.

Cluj pressed forward for an equalizer but could not find the net. In the 80th minute Sinani stepped forward to strike a free kick from around 25 yards. The ball beat the wall and beat the diving Arlauskis, struck the post and bounced back into the net from the back of the keeper’s head to make the score 2-0. Watch highlights here.
