Sunday's clash was the first time that coaches from Luxembourg had faced each other in professional football

The meeting between the two former national team players at Kaiserslautern’s Fritz Walter stadium marked the first time that coaches from Luxembourg had faced each other in professional football anywhere in the world.

Bielefeld started the match the better team and took the lead in the 27th minute through Voglsammer. Kaiserslautern only really got going in the second half when they began mounting pressure on the Bielefeld defence. But the visitors held firm and the home side was made vulnerable to Bielefeld’s counter-attacking. But it was only in added time that Bielefeld scored their second, when Weihrauch set up Kerschbaumer to slot home in the 95th minute.

The result leaves Kaiserslautern bottom of the table with just 10 points from 15 games--though 8 of those points have been picked up in the last seven games since Strasser took over. Bielefeld move up to sixth with 22 points.
