Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa were among those that left the property in Cabasson, in the south of France, at 1:00a.m., the royal court said in a statement on 26 July.

A wildfire was burning uncontained in Bormes-les-Mimosas, about 10km from the family’s estate. The area is roughly halfway between Marseille and Nice.

Altogether, around 4,000 hectares are burning along France’s Mediterranean coast and in Corsica, BBC News reported on Wednesday. More than 10,000 people were evacuated overnight.

The palace said that French authorities rehoused the royal family. There was no immediate word on the state of their property.
