10 December marked a historical day for the funicular in Kirchberg--not only was it the cable car’s first anniversary but it also welcomed its 1.5 millionth passenger on Monday.
Covering a trajectory of 200 meters and a height difference of 40 meters, the Luxembourg City’s funicular is one of the shortest in the world. The large cabins can transport up to 168 passengers at a time and are accessible for wheelchairs and bikes.
The funicular’s timetables are adjusted to match arrival and departure times of trains from Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg train station.
