The funicular transporting passengers between the railway station and the tram stop at the Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg interchange surpassed one million passengers in August, the national railway CFL announced on Monday. The service has been in operation since 10 December 2017.

The funicular cabins, which have a capacity for 168 passengers, carry between 5,000 and 6,000 passengers a day on average. They take 63 seconds to travel the 200-metre track, which covers an elevation difference of around 40 metres.
