A report by RTL television during Wednesday’s “Kloertext” debate featuring only female politicians revealed that 24 glasses wearers will sit in the new parliament, as opposed to just 12 female MPs.

These figures will probably change when the new government is announced and a number of elected MPs become cabinet ministers, leaving their seats in the Chamber of Deputies free to other popular candidates on their party lists.

Of the 60 deputies directly elected, 37 were over the age of 50 and 25 have a so-called “double mandate”, meaning that they also serve on a communal council.
