The company had reportedly been seeking a 25-hectare site in Bissen, made up of several individual plots, to build a €1bn data centre.

However, one landowner refused to sell, 100,7 reported Thursday evening.

Earlier this week, 100,7 had said that Google gave Luxembourg’s government a deadline of 14 July to finalise the project.

100,7 then reported on 13 July that the government would propose another 25-hectacre site, east of Bissen, near the driver training centre, to Google on Friday. However, it had not yet secured the agreement of all those landowners.

The broadcaster said it was unclear when Google would make its decision.

A Google spokesman told Delano on Friday that “we don’t comment on rumour or speculation”.

EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this article misstated the location of the proposed second site; this article has also been updated with comments from Google.
