According to a witness appeal, rogue lumberjacks have been cutting down trees on roadsides using chainsaws in various parts of the country.

Police suspect the vandals may have a political motivation, in that they see the trees as causing deaths in road traffic accidents.  

Among the areas targeted were the road between Bilsdorf and Insenborn, where three trees were felled, and Roodt-Rambrouch, where the guerilla lumberjacks took out six trees.
