Citizens' online information portal is now available in English
Luxembourg's online portal about all things administrative for residents is now available in English.
There certainly is a demand for an English guide to healthcare, housing, benefits, education or labour rights and obligations: over the past 6 months, 26.5% of guichet.lu users chose English as their language of choice.
Dan Kersch, minister for the civil service and administrative reform, said during a conference on Tuesday 7 November that the move to offer the platform entirely in English was due to an increasing number of residents not having German or French as their first language. Luxembourg’s population is currently composed of 170 nationalities, which make up 48% of foreign residents.
Over 1,500 pages of all sorts of administrative information and 200 online forms and procedures have been translated into English over the past six months. This citizens’ portal in English completes the English portal for companies, meaning that all information is now available in English.
Kersch also indicated that the site will get a new visual identity and slogan “Maach et online” (do it online).
