For young people considering a career in teaching, salary can prove a decisive factor.
To earn big bucks right away, candidates should consider training or applying for a position in Luxembourg.
According to a new report from the OECD, starting salaries for newly qualified teachers vary widely between countries with Luxembourg offering the very highest wage-packet by far. An elementary/primary school teacher starting out in Luxembourg can expect to earn an impressive $68,121 per year.
Germany and Denmark also offer high salaries for newly qualified elementary school teachers in excess of $45,000. New teachers in the United States can also expect to take home a decent wage when they enter the profession, averaging $42,256.
The situation is less rosy in the United Kingdom where starting salaries come to a mere $27,246 by comparison.
