The average price of a family house has reached €649,425, with the average price for an existing flat standing at €5,002/sqm (+4.7%) and for a new flat at €6,316/sqm (+6.1%).

Statec, the statistics office, published the latest figures in a joint report with Liser on Monday 12 February.

Prices depend on the type of flat, its size and its location. On average, a flat which is under construction is 25% to 30% more expensive than an existing flat. Prices depend on the type of flat, its size and location. However, the price per square metre decreases with the size of the flat. For example, a studio is more expensive per m2 than a flat with 3 rooms. Flats get cheaper the further away they are from the capital.

The average price of a house in the Luxembourg canton has reached €968,918, double the price of a house in the North.

The most expensive areas (over €7,000/m2) in new flats are Luxembourg City, Strassen, Bertrange, and Hesperange. In Mertzig, Lorentzweiler, Kehlen, Mamer, Sandweiler, Sanem, Roeser, Frisange and Mondorf-les-bains the average price of a flat under construction stands between €5,700 and €6,999 per sqm.
