That’s according to CB Insights, a data analysis firm.

The company’s “2018 Fintech Trends Report”, released on 25 January, counted more than 60 such startups in the EU, including 2 in Luxembourg: Governance.io and TheMarketsTrust.

But that apparently was an undercount. “Luxembourg has at least 10 #regtech companies to add to the map,” the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology tweeted on 4 February.

The promotion group then listed Alto, CDDS, Finologee, Fundsquare, GoldbAuM, Secourriel, Seqvoia, SnapSwap, Tetrao.eu and Ume.

As for the rest of Europe, the UK was the biggest regtech hub; CB Insights cited 34 startups. Next was Switzerland, with 6.
