On Thursday 11 January, Marc Hansen, minister delegate to higher education and research presented the contract with the University of Luxembourg and several multiannual framework agreements with research centres and the funding body FNR (Fonds National de la Recherche).

Spending on research and higher education thus grew by €284 million, corresponding to an increase of 25% over the period from 2014 to 2017.

€766.8 million will be allocated to the University of Luxembourg and €383 million to the three public research centers LIST, LIH and LISER. In addition, €265.4 million will be allocated to programmes and instruments of the National Research Fund. A bonus of €20.5 million will reward the performance of institutions in the European Union's Framework programme for research and development.
