  • Knauf Insulation, a leading producer of glass mineral wool, is choosing a site for its new factory. The two options are Sanem (in Luxembourg) or on the French side of the Moselle. The company is prepared to invest €100 million and would create 120 jobs.
  • A Luxembourger becomes CEO of McCain. Max Koeune, who used to work at Danone and started working for the Canadian frozen food giant in 2012, will take up his new role in November.
  • Luxembourg’s workers are motivated above average to go to work. With a motivation rate of 74.9%, Luxembourg’s employees rank thirteenth out of 35, according to the Quality of Work Index. Belgians are fourth with 78.5%, the French ninth with 75.9% and the Germans trail behind on twenty-eighth place with 69.1%.
  • Luxembourg spent 1% of its GDP on security in 2015--which makes up €899/inhabitant, the highest rate per head in the EU. This includes security, prisons, fire and rescue service and tribunals.
