The 350m long structure would be elevated above the Villeroy & Boch site currently under development, and would be accessible to pedestrians and bicyclists.

The walkway would promote “soft mobility”, Lampertsbierger Syndicat said in a press release (PDF) issued after its annual general meeting on 20 May.

The association commissioned a feasibility study from the architecture and urban planning consultant Marianita Perrone Pinheiro and from the technical engineering firm INCA Ingénieurs Conseils.

Citing reports from those outfits, the association said the footbridge would have a maximum height of 36m in the middle and would be 3m wide. The structure would be made of steel or wood with a concrete foundation. The total estimated construction cost is €6.2m, including a lift on the Limpertsberg side.
