- The current mayor of Luxembourg City will lead the liberal DP party slate in the capital in this autumn’s local elections. Of the party’s 27 candidates, 14 are women and 13 are men; 14 of the 27 are standing for the first time.
- Erica Monfardini will take over as administrative director of the University of Luxembourg on 1 June. She will be charged with sorting out the institution’s budget, which has been in deficit and has been delivered late. The current administrative director, Alfred Funk, will assume another role. The university’s rector, Rainer Klump, resigned earlier this month.
- The Centre and West regions are the latest zones that will see changes as part of a revamp of the national bus system. On 19 June, 84 lines will start new schedules and join the “real time” tracking system.
- After two years of construction, ING formally inaugurates its new Luxembourg HQ on Tuesday. Along with moving into the new location, on place de la Gare, the bank is moving to a new system of physically organising its staff. They will have an “activity-based working” floorplan, Monique Chalon, ING’s manager of facility management in Luxembourg, said in an interview. That means that different areas of the building will be dedicated to specific needs, and available to all employees. No one will have a dedicated office, she said, including managers.
